2018-2019 Season Rehearsal Schedule

Westwinds uses the facilities of two Calgary High Schools and a Church on a rental basis:

Introduced in 2006 are the Westwinds Performance Standards. This is a guide to which level each Westwinds group will generally be rehearsing and performing. You can view the Performance Standards [Here]
Also new starting in 2006 are non-auditioned Placements. These are conducted in each group at the beginning of the season and provides an assessment of each member to determine their appropriate placement within each group.
For the 2018-2019 Regular Season, the Bronze Concert Band will move to Central Memorial High School.
Also new for 2018: The Symphonic Band will be directed by Westwinds Artistic Director, Kevin Willms and will rehearse Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 at Central Memorial High School.
This ensemble is specifically designed for musicians who have been part of their high school band, are under the age of 30 and love to play! There are no auditions for this band. Standard wind band instrumentation will be utilized in this ensemble. Repertoire will be selected from the finest wind band offerings will cover a range of styles and difficulty levels according to the needs of the ensemble.

MEMBERSHIP CODE
Ensemble playing and singing requires the ongoing attention and focus of every group member. Individual members of Westwinds are expected to make the commitment to attend rehearsals and to prepare diligently for performances.

Westwinds is a volunteer-run Society in which the Officers of the Society are full participants in the music programs, elected to leadership positions by the membership. Members have a responsibility to abide by the rules of the Society, participate fully in the election process, and to support elected officials in their ongoing duties.
